Emily is a final-year Classics undergraduate at the University of Liverpool and a Hellenist, writing her thesis on vision and tragic error in Euripides. We talk about the misconceptions she arrived at Herodotus with, why bias in reading ancient history is something to work with rather than against, how much of the epic cycle Euripides' audience had in mind, and the subversive characters tragedy needs in order to frighten us.
