Does the Land Remember?
Can the sacred be remembered by a land drenched in blood?

Do Galilee’s fields and pastures,
That knew the saviour man and boy,
Recall a family’s laughter,
The sound of childhood games, with joy?
Do Sidon’s oaks have memory?
Do any live that gave him shade?
Do old trees whisper to the young
Of God’s son walking through their glades?
Does Gethsemane remember
Being watered by the Saviour’s tears?
Does she call to mind a traitor,
A desperate prayer, a wounded ear?
Does Golgotha’s soil still lament
The eternal shame and glory
Of hosting Our Lord’s great torment
To fulfil redemption’s story?
Does the Holy Land remember,
After millennia of strife,
Despite all the war and murder,
That she was the spring of life?
